**This blog cover Sunday, 08/12 and Monday, 08/13**

After over 3 months of not being able to write any blogs in here, I’ve decided to wipe out all the previous blogs and start out fresh. I’ll continue to attempt to write about things about in the life and times of tiangcodesign inside and out of the graphic design world. I’ll also try to include a daily snapshot.

To start off my blogs, I’ll write about our vacation to sunny and hot California. Yes, it’s hot and probably as hot as back home in Houston. Our road trip took about 26 hours with a driving rotation between 3 people. On the way home though, it’ll just be the 4 of us left and driving duties between Eunice and myself. It was pretty much in the 100 degree temperature the whole way through except for the cooler low 90’s in the evening and early morning hours. The van’s MPG held up pretty well and even better than I thought. On a daily routine, the van can do about 330 miles on a full tank, but during our trip, it calculated, at most, 491 DTE (Drive To Empty) on the panel. I thought we’d gas up about 6-7 times but only did 5 times and only filled up when we hit about half tank. Not too shabby. We arrived around 2 p.m., Monday afternoon, right before rush hour traffic begins so that’s good timing on our part. Even though we were beat, Eunice and myself still washed the van from the insect splatters and other gunk we may have collected and filled my in-laws’ driveway with leftover insects and bubbles. I tried to do some homework but was too tired and it was lights out for me at 5:30. Eunice and I woke up @ 3:30 a.m. and realized we had no milk for Cole so went out to hunt one down, and sure enough, not knowing our way around this area, we went to drive about 15 miles close to our old stomping grounds where there was a 24 hour Walgreen’s where I used to buy the little ones medicine when I needed to buy stuff in the wee hours of the morning.

That should be a good start covering Sunday and Monday and here’s some pics as well…

Very good drive time and MPG. Same story as when I went out to Vegas. Thought the gas prices were going to be worse but when driving the open road of the American Southwest, one can drive for miles and miles and miles.

Somewhere near Tucson (I think) is “The Thing” and for 200 miles either way you’ll see billboards for “The Thing”, and if you did - or will - have the courage to see “The Thing”, then I say it’s worth the dollar for admission (and a chance to stretch your legs). (Don’t pay to see the Egress!)

Edward.. we actually always see The Thing whenever we drive I-10 and that’s a lot… we only stopped by there once and that was when we were moving from CA to TX 2 years ago and my sis-in-law and my cousin were the ones to go in… we’ll try to go there on the way home but i think i was asleep when we passed by there because i totally missed the signs…
